Kurban Bayramı (Eid el-Adha), the "Feast of Sacrifice" on 10 Zilhicce (Dhul-hijja) of the Islamic Hijri calendar, will affect your travel plans if you trip to Turkey includes the four-day holiday—which can stretch to a week or more, depending upon the dates:

2014, October

The Kurban Baryramı holiday begins with arife (preparation) on October 3 (Friday), the first day is October 4 (Saturday) and the holiday continues for four days until the evening of October 7 (Tuesday).

I'd expect travel (bus, train, plane, highways) to be very heavy on Thursday, October 2 through Friday, October 3; and Tuesday, October 7 through Wednesday, October 8.

Some sights and attractions, especially in Istanbul, may be closed from Friday afternoon through Tuesday. More...

2015, September

In 2015, Kurban Bayramı begins with arife (preparation) on September 22 (Tuesday), the first day is September 23 (Wednesday) and it continues for four days until the evening of September 26 (Friday), with travel effects from September 18 (Friday) through September 28 (Sunday).

2016, September

In 2016, Kurban Bayramı begins with arife (preparation) on September 11 (Sunday), the first day is September 12 (Monday) and it continues for four days until the evening of September 15 (Thursday), with travel effects from September 9 (Friday) through September 18 (Sunday).

2017, September

In 2017, Kurban Bayramı begins with arife (preparation) on August 31 (Thursday), the first day is September 1 (Friday) and it continues for four days until the evening of September 4 (Monday), with travel effects from September August 31 (Thursday) through September 5 (Tuesday).

2018, August

In 2018, Kurban Bayramı begins with arife (preparation) on August 20 (Monday), the first day is August 21 (Tuesday) and it continues for four days until the evening of August 24 (Friday), with travel effects from August 18 (Friday) through August 26 (Sunday).

2019, August

In 2019, Kurban Bayramı begins with arife (preparation) on August 10 (Saturday), the first day is August 11 (Sunday) and it continues for four days until the evening of August 14 (Wednesday), with travel effects from August 10 (Saturday) through August 15 (Thursday).
